Flip the Darkness, Turn On the Light A video by W.C. Blackmon Accessible text Video: Close-up of W.C. Blackmon ouside, wearing a shirt and tie [W.C. Blackmon sings] When the night has come And the land is dark And the moon is the only light we see [W.C. Blackmon speaks (with soft music in the background)] You ever feel like everything is darkness for you? Like every single day is hump day for you, and you're steadily trying to work your way over the hump? You're steadily trying to work your way out of the darkness, but you just can't see your way out? Would you believe it if I told you I know what that feels like? (laughs) I do. But seriously, it is difficult when it seems like all you do is work to try and get a certain place and you're just not getting there. It's always one thing, then another, trying to make ends meet. You're borrowing from Paul to pay Peter, and all the while Tina is spamming your inbox and texting your phone to get hers. I know what it feels like. I know what it feels like to feel as though all there is is darkness around you. I also know what it feels like to flip that darkness around, change things, change your life. Often when you're in that space where you seem like you can't get over the hump and the darkness is just encroaching, you get diverted because that's what you want to do. You want to get away from it, like divert yourself through drugs, alcohol, sex, all kinds of things, gossip, hate, all kinds of things that are contrary to what you need in order to be your best you. I'd like to share with you what I use, what I have used in order to, instead of divert, I invert--invert the thinking. Instead of focusing on the darkness, focusing on that hump that you can't seem to get over, focus on that light. Because no matter what, there's always just a little bit of light. I don't know. Maybe it's your little one. Maybe it's your job. Maybe it's something that you're doing on a volunteer basis. Whatever it is, whatever it is, as long as it's something positive, focus on that light. Of course, your thoughts are what's going to lead you. Your thoughts lead your actions, and your actions determine where you end up, determines your destiny, right? We focus on that light, and we let that light into our minds, into our hearts, into our spirits. It's a new transformation that takes place. When that transformation takes place, that sliver of light that we were focusing on, it gets bigger and bigger and bigger, until it turns into a window, until it turns into a door--a door that takes us into the bright world that we want. You know, someone may be listening to this right now and saying, "Okay, this is a bunch of mumbo jumbo. This isn't going to help me." But I guarantee you, it does and it will if you just give it a try. You think about, "Well, I've been in something a long time. I've been in this darkness a long time." You say that to yourself, "I was there last week, I was there yesterday, I'm here today and I'll be there tomorrow." But that's the change you have to make. Change that thought that you're going to be there tomorrow. If you change, you won't be. If you just invert your thinking, you won't be. Try this on for size. If you do believe that you were there yesterday, and you're here today, that you're going to be there tomorrow, you won't lose anything by giving this a shot, by giving this a try. But i tell you, you will gain something. You'll gain that light, because you think about, if you can see with your eyes, you have the physical eyes to see and you walk into a dark place, you flip on the light. All of a sudden you can see. Yeah? Think about this. If all you have is darkness around you, bitterness, anger, frustration, irritation, but then you let light into your heart, into your mind, into your spirit, you're going to be able to see better. You're going to feel better. You're going to think better. Therefore, you'll see more and you'll think more and your mind will be open. It's like unclogging the heart of your mind. It's what it is when you have light, when you have a great attitude towards life. I'm on my road of victory. I know you are as well. However, we can't stand. We have to keep walking, keep moving, and always keep looking for the light. [W.C. Blackmon sings] I won't cry, I won't cry. No, I won't shed a tear, just as long as you walk, walk with me. [W.C. Blackmon speaks] I see you on the road of victory. [On screen] Check out my books and other products at: www.wcblackmon.com
